who can receive a care package?

any two-spirit Indigenous youth between the ages of 11-29 residing in the united states of america. for gifts in canada, please contact @twospiritgifts.

how do you receive a care package?

we will post a form later in december that you can submit to request a care package for yourself or for a youth in your community. for the first two weeks the form is open, we will only be taking requests from rural and rez-based youth in order to give word of mouth time to spread to more remote areas. after those two weeks the form will be open to urban youth as well. our goal is to ship care packages by the middle of february. this is not intended to be a christmas gift. this is a care package for when the winter is dragging on and the days are still short and lonely.

what will the care packages contain?

presents! art, beadwork, stickers, medicines, zines, self care products, candles, art supplies, anything we can source and donate that will bring joy. we will tailor the packages to requests– every one will be slightly different, depending on the identity and preferences of the youth receiving it! two spirit identity is multifaceted and not a one-size fits all thing, and our care packages will reflect and celebrate that. 

how can you collaborate? 

follow @twospiritcareproject and keep an eye out for calls for donations and submissions– send this page to your friends who make art and to youth in your community and their families who may want a gift! the more people know about us, the more gifts we can send.

donate money: we will post a call for fundraising later, but shipping care packages is expensive. flat rate boxes with usps are $22.80 each, and if we want to ship 25 care packages we will need to raise at least $570. the more money we raise, the more care packages we can send, and anything extra can go to compensate artists and purchase extra gifts to include. in order to ship 30 care packages, we will need $684, for 40, $912, and so on.

donate gifts: are you an artist, a beader, a maker, a business, or a creator? do you want to support two-spirit youth and make them feel loved? contact us to collaborate. we will need donations to include in the care packages, whether that be prints, earrings, stickers, soap, candles, art supplies, clothing, books, or anything else you would like to contribute. we will have a call for donations and a form submission for contributors on this page in a week or two. this is a community-based mutual aid project intended to bring joy, not a charity, so we cannot provide charitable tax write-offs, but we will highlight and credit every collaborator who donates. this project will not be possible without donations, so chi miigwech to all of you.
